One person ...
Three people ...
Fifteen people ...
Seventy people ...
You turn your TV on and you hear "three people" died in a car accident. You log online and read "15 people" died in the recent riots.
You hear "one person died" and you go like ... "emmm"
"5 people were rushed to the hospital" ... emmmm
"10 people were killed" ... ohhh!
"Emmm" and "ohhh!" .. that's it?!
Wow!
When did a man turn into just a number; a lifeless, feelingless, dry number?
Let's try to translate that "one person" into a clearer, easier-to-understand, more accurate language:
When the world loses "one person", here's what it really loses:
10s of dreams
100s of possibilities
1 heart capable of love and compassion
2 hands working for the good of humankind
And here's what it is left with:
1000,000 tear
10s of broken hearts
100s of sleepless nights
1,000 what-if's
Life is definitely worth more than just an "emmm" or an "ohhh"; it deserves not to be taken away!
To you, it's only "one".
To others, he was "the one"!
May you always be "the one", and never ever just another "one", amen!
But even better ... may you always see everyone worthy of living as "the one"!

I love this post. I was thinking of asking 'the one' not to go to the demonstrations, because I cannot afford losing him. You are reading my mind, it seems :) Amira Hassan
ReplyDeleteMay he be safe .. along with all the ones :)
DeleteAmen :D Amira Hassan
ReplyDeleteDeath is a common word that is inevitable now or then but what makes it in such an horror when it is committed in the name of the devine.
ReplyDeleteDeath may be in peace or "NOT" .What makes it in more horror when it is accompanied by that "not"
what I am really worried about to become like those nurses who can see blood everywhere without caring anymore.
